[Fathers day. She knows she should be happy today. After all she had a wonderful family here. At least that's what she felt like today.
But it was Fathers day and her sadness at the fact that she would never see her father again was eating away at her. Have a quiet voice on the phone Mayfield. ]

[Where did miss mopy go and what have you done with her?]
I was just thinking about going for a walk that's all.

[He blinks and ponders]
"Be careful out there okay? The town did odd things on Mother's day and I don't want to see it do anything to screw with you, okay?"

[Blinks, what the hell did she just say.]
....Is that why I feel really happy? Because I shouldn't be happy today.
[She wasn't a moment ago.]

[He ponders a minute]
"I take it you and your dad were either really close or not close at all back home, huh? Probably really close."

[And nothing can get rid of that sadness as it creeps back.]
....he was murdered only a week ago.
[Self sacrifice so she could escape. The Enclave took her father away and nothing will stop her from labelling that as murder.]

Talking about it might help.
[She needed to tell someone about her father.]

....it's a bit of a story. But you know how I told you my world is pretty much a wasteland?

"Yeah. Some nuclear war."

I never saw the outside world till I was 19. ..that's maybe a month now. I grew up and lived most of my life in Vault 101.
The vaults were shelters set up by the government before the great war. There were lots of them spread over the country. Vault 101 was where I grew up.
We were taught that there was absolutely no chance that the earth was habitable. That we were born in the vault and we would die in the vault. And that we owed the Overseer of the vault for our survival.
.....as it turns out that wasn't true. They had let people in. Two of them. My father and me. I didn't remember it because I was still a baby. They needed a doctor and my father was one.

He had been working with my mother on Project Purity, a way to clean all the water in the Wasteland. But it didn't go well, and after my mother died giving birth to me, my father left and we went and lived in Vault 101.
...but he couldn't let it end like that. So he did research the best he could and escaped, hoping to leave me safe in the vault while he was gone.
[A dry, not amused at all chuckle.]
That didn't go well. I had to fight my way out.
[And she pauses for a moment. A month, she'd only been out a month and she was already so different from that terrified girl who had stared in horror at the dead guard in front of her.]So I followed him, I followed all the rumours about a strange man wandering around. Got mixed up in a few things here and there as I went ( ... )

".....Yeah. Sacrifices like that."

And now there are Enclave soldiers attacking everywhere.
[She sighs.]
I preferred the raiders, they were easier to kill. But I think the soldiers scared them off.
