Friday night I experienced one of the best concerts I have ever been too as my sister and I headed up to Meadowbrook Music Theater to go see Ben Harper and Damien Marley jam out for her 30th birthday present from me.
All I can say is WOW, it was one of those concerts that makes you thinking about it days after. The place was packed and let me just say we had some damn good seats. Here's a short clip of Ben doing a cover of Neil Youngs "Heart of Gold" (p.s. - this video doesn't do him justice, the sound quality is horrible)
Saturday Jen Poe from high school called me, I went and swooped up Rhonda and we headed to her house in Wixom, where I proceeded to feel really old as all the other girls began to talk about being married and having kids. We sat around the bon fire for a couple hours talking and doing jello shots.
Sunday night I hung out at Jeffs and we smoked all night and watched Grandmas Boy and played video games.
Monday did some shopping and picked up a couple of new shirts.
A couple of fall shirts.
Jeff called me on the way to the mall and wanted me to stop by his place on my way back so we could finally go see Talladega Nights. We headed out to Apple Bees for dinner and some good conversation. Grabbed some munchies from Rite Aid and snuck them into the theater. We are badasses like that. The movie was pretty damn funny. In a Dumb and Dumber sort of way.
Summer is officially over. The trees leaves are already falling and there is a slight chill in the air.
I will miss my friend Summer
Squeaky swings and tall grass
The longest shadows ever cast
The water's warm and children swim
And we frolicked about in our summer skin
I don't recall a single care
Just greenery and humid air
Then Labor day came and went
And we shed what was left of our summer skin
On the night you left I came over
And we peeled the freckles from our shoulders
Our brand new coats so flushed and pink
And I knew your heart I couldn't win
Cause the seasons change was a conduit
And we left our love in our summer skin
