so okay i've been watching a lot of the show Weeds lately and there was this really great song in an episode called Cotton by a band called The MOuntain Goats so i downloaded a bunch of songs by the band and in this one song there was a lyric: "I went North on Mills Ave" and for those of you who don't go to the Claremont Colleges, Mills Ave runs through Pitzer and maybe other of the schools. So i was like hey that'd be cool if the guy (it's a one man band) was from Claremont. So i did some research and found that he was from California from allmusic.com and then on wikipedia that "Darnielle (the guy) began performing under the name The Mountain Goats (a reference to the Screaming Jay Hawkins song "Big Yellow Coat") in 1991 in Claremont, California, where he attended Pitzer College"
How cool is that!!!!! he went to my school and he fucking rocks. everyone should try to download some songs by him. I suggest Cotton, especially but also the album The Sunset Tree is excellent. It's kind of folksy, indie rock stuff. it's good, but some may not like it much.
Maybe i can get him to play here some time...
