Where did the time go?

I received my first pay check yesterday, apparently I have worked about 95 hours in the last couple weeks since I started. It has certainly been an adventure. A short recap of my adventures: The cook who hired me as a dishwasher quit my first day after having only worked there a week himself, the cook who I have worked with the last two weeks left today after having worked there for six months, the new guy they just hired will only be there a few days because he has back problems and so can not actually take the job, the woman who owns and manages the place is an alcoholic(I thought she was really addicted to coffee, turns out it was wine in those coffee cups), the waitstaff is her four kids, ranging from twins age 16 to her 21 year old son, and their good friends, an order of six large boxes came in a few days ago full of more bread then we use in a month, the oven is an over sized toaster oven, the stove is a bunch of portable individual butane gas burners, etc, etc....The place seems like a complete joke, and is so much work for me, leaving me tired and unable to even think about hanging out with my friends, but it is a job, and I am learning a lot. I have found out ways to make all kinds of sauces, and how to cook eggs, and I am the one who tries out all the millions of new recipes the owner wants to use, so I do get to do some cooking. Hopefully though, I will get used to all this physical labor in the next couple weeks so I can actually hang out with some of my friends while we are all still on this coast. Blah...here's to the life of a cook(or dishwasher, as the case may be)
