Alexz (pronounced Alex) Johnson is not a common household name, but the release of her upcoming album, Voodoo, could likely bump her into super stardom. Whether you recognize her as Annie Thelen of So Weird, the cynical Erin who was shot to death with a nail gun in Final Destination 3, Jude Harrison of Instant Star, or the lovely Saturn Girl from Smallville; to know her is to love her. The lithe blonde appears bubbly and charismatic, with vocals you wouldn't believe.

When Instant Star was canceled after FOUR seasons, Alexz moved to Los Angeles to pursue the music career that originally led her into acting. On February 15, 2008, she announced she'd signed with Epic Records and in late 2009, her contract with Epic Records was released due to economic crisis. All of the songs she had recorded during this time were tied up with Epic, and will not be featured on her new album.

Voodoo, is set to be released by Laydee Spencer Music, Inc., an independent label run by her brother Brendan Johnson (also her co-writer/producer), on March 30.

Her latest single 'Trip Around the World' emphasizes the importance of getting away from the "nine to five," which "is becoming a disease." Alexz has a full, melodious voice with sharp edges. The music itself is upbeat and gritty, I could listen to it without the vocals, and sure to finagle a few repeat listens. While it does not showcase her talent as well as past songs, ('Skin') it will leave you salivating for more.
