Henry Quayle Shimmin
Henry Quayle Shimmin, passed away pacefully April 21, 2006, at Hinsdale Hospital after a long illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen; and daughters Susan (fiance Dr. Robert Trefil) and Leslie (William) Hickey; his four grandchildren, William III (fiancee Danna Richman), Brian (fiancee Colleen Doherty), Laura and Mary Ellen Hickey, were the light of his life. We will miss his incredible stories and the twinkle in his eyes but will carry our memories of him with love forever. Harry was born on October 10, 1913, in Peel, Isle of Man. He was very proud of his Manx heritage. His dedicated service in WWII earned him a silver star, bronze star and purple heart. He was a partner of Price, Shimmin and Kalal in Chicago, a wholesale notions business. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ethel (Henry) Christian, and his brother, Thomas Arthur (Anne) Shimmin. Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, April 25, at Grace Episcopal Church, 120 E. First St., Hinsdale, for Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. Interment Bronswood Cemetery.
