From a mail I just got from the department of biology
"The theme of this year's party will be a Holiday Triathlon. We have three holiday competitions planned to help bring festive spirit to the building. And in the spirit of healthy competition, these activities will be judged by several faculty members and prizes will be given to the winning lab/group. So, start brainstorming for:
1) Door decorating contest… start this as early as you’d like. The judging will take place on the morning of Friday, December 11th. Decorate either your office or lab door, but of course it cannot impede door function, damage property, or cover safety signs.
2) Trivia... this will take place at the Holiday Party. It may be biology trivia, holiday trivia, or the two combined… wait and see!
3) Gingerbread sculpture contest... at the Holiday Party. Get together with your lab/group and construct a gingerbread palace. Or model organism. Or invasive species. Construct what you fancy out of graham crackers, icing and candy, get it judged, observe the other spectacular creations, and then enjoy the tasty treat!
Points will be awarded for all activities, and the lab/group with the most points at the end of the night will win a fabulous prize! So bring your energy, enthusiasm, ideas, and appetite...and we'll see you all next Friday!"
