Anyone ever dealt with this...

I got a bill from the pathology department of the hospital for 161.00 in June. I was like, "I'm not paying that much. Shouldn't insurance have covered this?" I put it on the back burner--we moved, my sister came into town, blah, blah. I got a statement from Healthnet just this week saying that they are not paying the 161 because the pathology department billed them 180 days after the services were rendered. What do I do? C.K. says that I have to call and straighten it out. But why should I have to pay. They did the work yes but they should have billed my insurance in a timely fashion. I don't blame Health Net for not paying either. Eff them. They need to get their shit together. Anyone dealt with this shit before? Am I going to have to pay? Bullshit because CK has hundreds taken out of his checks twice a month for freaking medical insurance.

Here's the timeline:

Service rendered on Sept. 12, 2007
They billed HealthNet sometime after March 12, 2008.
They billed me in June.
Healthnet sent me a letter telling me why they didn't pay in July.

C.K. says to call HealthNet first and ask what recourse I have. It's not my problem that their administrative department is slow. I never say this but it's not really my insurance's problem either. They have to safeguard against doctor's billing them years later with some backlogged shit. Ugh. I hate dealing with this. I have this sinking feeling that they are just going to be like, "Too bad. Pay up." And who loses in the end? Me. I either have to cough up the money (thankfully it's not much more cause paying for two places is already getting tough). OR I'll have that I didn't pay them on my record and it will come back to bite me sometime.
