But don't they say that Lucifer is the King of Lies...?

I was wondering how long it'd be before someone brought that one up.

So you admit this entire thing is untrustworthy.

Don't put words in my mouth. You're free to believe me or disbelieve me if you want, but I'm only forced to lie so much about myself and take on a human cover story because if I didn't, fanatical humans would try to burn me at the stake or something. No thanks.

Besides, come on, the Devourer of Souls, really? What I'd like to know is how I'm supposed to go about devouring all these souls and why I'm even supposed to want them in the first place. I mean, what am I supposed to be hypothetically doing with them all once I've got them?

That sounds like the history of witches in my world. Which was a joke since real witches could easily put out a fire with a thought.

To be honest I am not religious myself so whatever you are alleged to do or have done, I wouldn't believe all the hearsay myself. However, the Muggle village near to where I grew up was very religious. I often saw their icons and celebrations.

And pictures of devils.

Magic-users in my world can put out fire as well, but it takes a lot of concentration and effort and it's definitely not instantaneous. Getting burned at the stake still counted as a death sentence for anyone who didn't have a way to heal themselves as well as put the fire out.

The ones with the horns and the wings and everything, you mean?

Well, it may take a little more time to put out a fire - perhaps with a water spell and an unbinding of cords - but for a skilled wizard or witch, Muggles are not really a threat.

Yes. Somebody here showed me such a picture too. Very impressive horns. They said it was themselves but then they were hiding under a veil of anonymity so they really could have been anyone.

Not even a whole mob of them against the one witch or wizard? That's impressive.

Well, my demons do have small horns, I'll give you that, but they go more in for fur and scales than wings.

I'm sure that I could deal with a so-called mob.

Do you know any Kappas?

I'm glad you're so confident.

Kappas? They're more spirit than demon, but I've run into a few when travelling in Japan before.

They're the only creatures in my world that I know exist that are called demons.

That's a different one. I've heard people call them water demons before here too, but that's more of a misnomer than anything.

So how many types of real demons are there?

Reply

[Locked to the filter!] littlelightfire February 1 2011, 05:39:54 UTC
In my world? Two main types, really. You have sand demons and frost demons, and as you'd expect the sand demons live in the seven eighths of Hell that burn all year round and the frost demons live in the one eighth that freezes instead. Of course, being demons, they don't let a small fact like evolution get in the way of trying to invade the bits of Hell that they weren't born in.

Interesting... So what are you exactly?

A Waywalker. Specifically a son of Time and Magic if you want to get into parentage. No relation to demons whatsoever, no matter what people like to think.
