Calling all Canadians!

Mar 03, 2004 22:23

As you may know, my father is a filmmaker - actor, writer, producer, director. Well, for years now he has been developing a very special screenplay... in fact, he has been working on and off for as long as I can remember. It is based on a short story by the celebrated Canadian author Farley Mowat.

The plot centers around an arrogant pilot who crashes his plane in the Arctic; he is lost and far from civilization, but the young Inuit (Eskimo) woman that happens to be with him becomes his savior... it is a tale of survival, love, and kinship.

Two years ago, the film was actually able to get off the ground, and after so long it actually was completed! It has since been honored at film festivals like Toronto and Palm Springs, but not yet officially released. Now, I am proud to tell you that THE SNOW WALKER will finally be appearing in Canadian theaters, this Friday, March 5th!

My father and this project are very, very special to me - he has worked so hard in making his dream a reality, and I am here to tell you that it has totally paid off. This movie is wonderful; I would love it even if I were not related to it.

Now the movie business being what it is, it is very important that a picture does well - especially in its first weekend - so that it stays in theaters. Not only that, but a good Canadian run might help it make its way into US theaters as well! So I ask you now, if you live near a city in Canada (most of them will be playing the movie in the next month), please check your theater listings, gather together everyone you know, and go see this film on its opening weekend! I PROMISE you will not regret it!

If you have any questions at all - or comments when you see the film! - feel free to email me; I can answer prettymuch anything you care to ask. Besides, then you can tell everyone that you know the daughter of the director! ; )
