Me and Samir had an almighty row about everything, mainly due to him having two essays due and being very irate all week. We had a week of not talking and to give each other space so we could work out what we wanted. We met up yesterday and luckily all amends were made and everything with the flat has been finalised. I won't go into the argument too much but it was mainly due to him struggling to juggle work and University. Then he had to have a guarantor for the new flat and my Mum offered to do it until October when he will of finished his MA and will be able to get a full time job and he threw his toys out the pram and said he didn't want a full time job. We have spoken through everything and he was really apologetic, he's worked out how many shifts he needs to do at work and made a timetable for his University work. This is a massive deal as he is so unorganised and usually leaves everything until it's a massive disaster. He's also completely switched his opinion on getting a full time job and said he realises he needs to grow up and promises he will sort proper employment out as soon as his dissertation is in so that my Mum can come off as a guarantor. It was a really draining and exhausting week but I'm glad we are okay now. It feels like a fresh start and getting everything off our chests is going to help no end. I really do love him and I had to take a step back for him to realise that I can't do everything for him and he has to step up. It also made me realise that we need to give each other a bit more space in general which I think I'll really appreciate as I really benefit from having some regular me time.
Last weekend I went to my friend Amy's house for dinner and a catch up (a friend from University) and we ended up spending the evening in an emergency vets with her housemates poorly dog. We noticed she had a cut on her belly and her owner was away with work. She had to have a full operation and stitches and looked so sorry for herself. I'm so glad we were there and could help & it felt like I was in animal rescue!
I have really enjoyed this bank holiday weekend. On Friday evening I went to Eat, drink Bristol fashion which is basically tipis in a park with a tapas cafe, a pop up posh restaurant and a few bars with my housemate David. It was lovely to catch up with him over a very large gin and tonic with elderflower, which I can't get enough of lately. I love how many great things happen in Bristol and May is a great time for food and music festivals. On Saturday, I spent the day craft shopping with Seren and Eva. I picked up some fabric to make a cushion cover, a model of a dinosaur to paint, and one of those scrape away pictures. Does anyone remember them? You have a picture on black paper with imprinted lines on and you get a little scraper and take away the lines on the page and it makes a picture. I'll try and remember to post a photo when I've done this one. It's of elephants so I'm hoping to frame it for my Mum's Birthday present. Then yesterday it was the big chat with Samir (oh my goodness I was so nervous) and then we went for a roast dinner courtesy of our friend Ed before seeing Purity ring at the Anson rooms which was incredible and then finished the night having drinks with friends. I really am enjoying having my weekends and having the extra day off felt like such a luxury. I had the joy of spending the day with the lovely Jo today aka
lena_halo. We checked out some of the market stalls that were up as part of Bristol food connections where we decided on some yummy Moroccan flatbreads for lunch. We then went and had a drink at the tipis before buying some cakes to take home with us. It was so great to catch up and I feel very lucky to have made such a good friend through Livejournal.
This evening I'm going to a new pizza restaurant called Flour and ash for mine and Samir's friend Kieran's Birthday which I am really looking forward to. I'm feeling very happy today, especially as this morning I managed to run 8K in 50 minutes which is the furthest I've ever ran without stopping and isn't a too shabby time. Oh boy, I am going to sleep so well tonight. Ive got lots of photos from mentioned occasions in this post but my iPad is playing silly buggers today, I'll try and do a picture post soon.
