Things I have learned:

- The city of Bath used to be known as 'Aquae Sulis,' Sulis was the godess believed to have made/reside in the natural hot spring there. It's the only hot spring in the UK, and it's still hot, steamy, and bubbling happily after a few thousand years. It tastes like a particularly robust brand of tap water, however. You get a glass-full free with a ticket to the baths, drawn strait and hot from a fishy fountain. I wanted to buy one of the little souvenir bottles of spring water with the olde-tyme-medicine-man-style label but it was too big. If it had been a tiny bottle I totally would have.

- There is a clever adaptation that I noticed on several of the storefronts in Bath. One strip of moulding along the intricate and brightly-painted storefront is attached to a folding metal arm on each end. It's painted the same color as the storefront as to be only detectable because of those arms. The whole bit slides out and reveals itself to be the awning for when it rains. I like to believe it would be a striped awning, because striped awnings are the best kind of awning.

- Plums fresh from the tree are also quite tasty. I've never liked plums much, but these are lovely and subtle and juicy and fresh. It's a scraggly little tree but it has so many plums on it it's more pink than green, the lovely little thing.

Things I have seen:

- A gate in a hedge. The hedge was the great part. It was trimmed beautifully into a 6ft fence with an arch above the gate. It was literally... a gate in a hedge.

- Amazing store fronts painted beautiful colors with excellently coordinating displays in them. I love the kind that have the big rounded glass display window wings that sort of funnel you back to the door. It's even better when there's a mosaic entry-way sloping slightly up to the door and striped awnings.

-The giant domes and bright flags and exotic plants of the Eden Project. Check it out... it's like Burning man with more greenery and children and fewer naked people.

- The commercial for The Brooke 'Save a Donkey' foundation. Several times.

I have lots more to write about, I'm sure... but I'm too tired and lazy now. :P

Bonus question: If one leather-clad power freak is called a Dominatrix, then are several called Dominatrices?
