New York, New York (Day 12)

Jan 14, 2009 17:46

So I ended up staying at the Hotel again, due to Abby getting me started on a rather good Korean movie. It's called 200 Pounds of Beauty, and I'm of two minds about it. On the one hand it's a good story about being yourself and noticing inner beauty, but on the other hand it sort of glorifies plastic surgery as a miracle for those not favored by genetics.

Meeting in the morning during which Philip talked about how he bred racing pigeons as a child. Gave us a huge list of galleries to go to and sent us on our way.
But not before I asked the question that had been burning in my brain.
"When pigeons race, is it on foot, or by wing?"

Apparently there's a whole world of pigeons I had no idea exsisted. I thought their only use was carrying messages and portable garbage disposals.
Did you know there are also Roller Pigeons and Tumbler Pigeons ?

How odd is that?

Anyhow...
Then we went to the Cloisters, which is a building made from pieces of old churches and cathedrals and stuff that houses the Met's medieval collection. Went back and saw some galleries after scarfing some really good pizza.
Later I went out with Leta and Lydia and Leta's friend.
We went to the tiki bar and had a great drink. It was served in a big bowl with long straws and fruit and a little cup in the middle with burning alcohol. I like the burning. Burning good.

Then to another bar that was quieter and friendlier. There was a photo booth, so Lydia and I had some fun. Our fun came out poorly developed with one picture on top of two others, so we got a bonus token from the bar.
Turns out the bartender was working that night even though it was his birthday, which Lydia and I found very sad.
So we drug him in with us and took photos in an attempt to make the night a bit more fun.

Had a few drinks and so when we left at 2ish I couldn't feel the pain I'd been feeling all day in my feet and back. That was pretty nice.
Another side effect was that when I crawled into bed at 2:45 I was out like a light.
I slept all night and had a great dream.

I dreamed I was in Australia again, and Rusty was bawling me out for missing something. Turns out it was the deadline to sign up for a boat race with the scouts somewhere out in the bush. He bawled with a smile, though, so I knew he still loved me and was more disapointed than mad, so Rusty and a bunch of friends took me along anyhow and we went on a little road trip to get to the location for the race.
I took the role of Navigator and it was so much fun.
I don't remember details, like who each of the friends were,* and the dream ended before we got to the race, but I do remember through the whole dream I had such a joyful feeling of happiness.
I was SO happy.
And it was SO nice to feel that again.

God I want to go back.

*But it was clear that they were all friends.
