I meant to post this about two months ago... so, as all y'all pretty much know I have this big 'ol house that I'm working on. The are all sorts of surprises with a house this old and the furnace room in the basement is a continual source of surprises and mysteries - most of them distressing, but some pretty decent, like the jackhammer or the spare kitchen stuff, and then many of them weird and hoard-ish, like the used toilet seats or the box of airvent covers (in a house that has no airvents), or the stacks or window panes that fit none of the windows in this house.

Anyway, a couple of months ago I was trying to create some space by digging out (and throwing out) some of the odder bits and I found an old grocery bag, tied at the top. I could tell by feel it was full of small boxes. My first thought was cigarettes or small decks of cards. Upon opening it turns out the bag was full of small boxes of really old (I'm betting) condoms. A dozen to a box, and there was at least two dozen boxes.

Manufactured by that well-known condom company, Ghuangzhou No. 11 Rubber Factory, China, I'm sure they're a quality product, as evidenced by the clear instructions on the back of the box.

I tossed 'em, of course - I was a little icked and didn't want anything beyond the photo as a souvenir. I buried them deep in a bag of industrial garbage 'cause I didn't want any of the homeless denizens in the neighborhood (who regularly go through the trash) finding them and trying to use them, 'cause the last thing this area needs is pregnant, cigarette-smokin' crack-whores.
