Geekery and... IDENTITY THEFT??

So, my WOW account was hacked Monday morning, and the culprit committed crimes that got me banned.

WIN.

See, I actually considered the ban to be a good thing (once I realized I had actually been hacked), because that locked out whoever had gotten in in the first place.

I officially <3 the new Armory feature at WorldofWarcraft.com. Without it, I would have never seen definitive proof that I was hacked and looted. (All my items were unequipped, and my character was only wearing an item that can't be sold to a vendor for money.)

So, I re-imaged my computer, because I probably picked up a key logger somewhere, and was able to get Blizzard Account Services to restore my account with a new password. (And yes, I changed all my passwords everywhere else to new, unique passwords from a different computer, so that's all taken care of.)

The thing that irritates me the most is apparently there are some people in my loving, caring, family-atmosphere guild who actually thought I was doing shit that would give me an unfair, exploitive advantage over others in the game. There are also apparently people who think it was all some weird conspiracy, and I'm really a stoolie for our much maligned ex-guild leader (the one who keeps harassing us.)

Much lulz.

Heads are gonna roll when I log in tonight.
