Alcohol doesn't work, wtf.

Well today Mr Ghost and I went out and bought 13 bottles of liquor/wine to restock the "booze cabinet" we left behind with the move. It wasn't ever nearly that large of a collection, but because we can afford a little extra right now, we wanted to treat ourselves. Nothing to do with the cars, the animals, or the house or property - just us. Those of you that know us know we don't drink to get drunk - we are rather fanciers of tasty beverages that happen to be alcoholic. If they contain no alcohol that's fine too. Good sweet tea, with no lemon, and not made from syrup is also favored greatly. As is hot tea, and coffee. We are beverage treat people. We'd rather have fun drinks than desert, most times.
When I was a teenager alcohol made me sleepy, but I never really got tipsy. Well all day yesterday and all night/early morning I've had draining sinuses and a sore throat. I've had a total of 6 mixed drinks, pretty decently packed with alcohol, and nothing. Post-actual-act-of-drinking the sore throat was back right away. When I was a little girl all it took was a little teaspoon full of whiskey & sugar or brandy and I'd be good as gold. It it not because we drink often either - Mr G always has a Killian's or two a night (alcohol rarely affects him) but I usually only drink when at someone's house and a "fru fru drink" is offered, or if we are out at a resturaunt and I'm not driving. In the past I'd really just pour myself a nightcap or sore throat cure once every few months. I kept the alcohol there for when visitors showed up - which as most of you know is rare! I wish we had visitors more often, really, btw. So if you're reading - COME VISIT AND HAVE FUN! Anyhow....no relief for me via my handy new collection. Oh well. Now I can make all of you kind readers frufru drinks when you visit us :-)
On other news, we get to go obtain nicely prices round bales of 2nd cutting hay from our dearly beloved hayguy Larry. He has one eye that is frosted over and "icey" that was destroyed in Vietnam (drafted at 18, was there only a year), lives on Seamann Road, and strangely enough resembles a little fisherman in his dress. From the thick knit toque down the kneehigh boots and turtleneck cableknit sweater...what a true character. He too was born on his farm like our neighbor Burt, and is wanting to sell the 76 acres & house & barns & cows within the next couple of years. I hope he waits 4 years. Because then we will buy it all and preserve it. The price he mentioned is ridiculously low for land that produces such lush and wonderful hay, and buildings aren't in poor condition either. It's actually lower priced than our house w/ 31 acres, but a little further out into the boonies and on that road. We've been told by locals laughingly that they would have bought a lovely place on that road, but only if they could use a crossroad in their address. Yeesh. Bert tells me she'd want it just for the name!!! LOL I don't blame her. Well lady, it's yours to stay in if it hangs around long enough for us to buy it when the trust is turned over. Plus you have that added bonus of Amish neighbors who will occasionally come over and amuse you with their old-fashioned Germanic culture and shunning of rock music and society in general etc. Damn, I almost want to live there lol. If our house didn't feel "right" I'd be there in a heartbeat. I know, more ranting, but this place continues to amaze me with the unique people that live here. The community, though it has it's drawbacks and stresses like any other, is very much a better place. So what I'm saying is....we love it here! Great neighbors, great hay guy, nice people at the stores and resturaunts. Woohoo!Damn I'm tired. Sleep now!
