Well we didn't get blown up last night, nothing was set on fire (much - i think a wheelybin went up in smoke near me, but the police decended on it like flys to roten meat). Of course the rest of the country felt the brunt of the troubles, thankfully my little sister had left her conferance in manchester at 4, so missed the Miss Selfridges riots..
I learnt yesterday that a charity shop had been hit on monday?! Why rob a store that you doante your old clothes to? Why not just go in and say i made a mistake, could i please have some back? That would be far eaiser surly... oh well, at least they didn't do anything to the one below my flat, because that has some nice furniture!
My italian friend has a brilliant grasp of the english languauge and a brilliant way of using it in conversation:
Benni: "Tom? If we live through tonight, can you help me carry my bags..." (insert sexy italian accent, with appropriate dry humor)
To me, this sums up the majority of Londoners, 'Keep Calm and Carry On'. The shopping precinct was shut yesterday because of some trouble, but when i walked past, lots of people where still milling around going to sainsbury's, jogging and things like that. I think we have the attitude of "well if it happens , it happens. we'll just get some brooms and clean it up later"
