Things I have to thank Joel for

Jun 26, 2005 10:47

So, yesterday Matt and I spent the day doing fun things... shopping for Riley's room, seeing a movie, etc., just to remind ourselves that life does go on. Plus, we didn't feel like being sad and mopey. So we forced ourselves out of it. Turns out, we must have still been sad and mopey because we crashed at like 9:30 p.m., and slept until almost 9:00 this morning. And I'm still feeling exhausted.

So, I started to make a list of things that I have to thank Joel for. I thought I'd share, to everyone. So I'm not blocking this post to friends-only for a change. This list isn't complete yet. But it's a start. It's also in no particular order:

1. Learning that, as you’re laying flat on your stomach on stage, it is, in fact, possible to get even CLOSER to the floor

2. Realizing that it is possible to memorize a page and a half monologue in one day

3. Understanding that it is possible to be completely driven crazy by someone, and completely adore them in equal amounts at the same time, and that’s okay

4. Uncovering the secret of an easy 10-lb. weight loss plan (it’s called six weeks of a Joel rehearsal)

5. Teaching me a completely different way to look at theater

6. Sharing my enthusiasm for all things Polish

7. Learning Polish so that you could impress my family

8. Sharing my love for certain restaurants in Milwaukee

9. Helping me find the humor in really gross and morbid things like dead babies

10. Helping me find myself, and my voice, during a rough post-college transition

11. Being at least partially responsible for meeting Matt, my husband

12. Giving me something to do in my 20’s and 30’s

13. Letting me get completely frustrated with you, express my total disagreement with you, even getting angry with you, and you (incredibly) never got angry back; in fact, you usually broke down and gave in; which is contrary to popular belief about you, so thank you for letting me see your soft side

14. Dancing with me at my wedding
