Computer help *again*

So I decided to break down and buy a new computer. The question now is:

Mini Mac or spring for a laptop?

Mini Mac is certainly cheaper, but well... since I wrote that I've been looking around online and I think I'm leaning toward getting a laptop. More money, but it's a good investment and will probably serve me well for school.

So then there are a few more questions that arise:

Powerbook or ibook? I'm looking at the 15 in (or 14 for ibook) monitors as a happy medium between light weight/smaller to carry and large enough screen. Is there really that much of a difference between the ibook and powerbook?

Adam is urging me to just go all the way and get a powerbook so I don't have to worry about an inadequate computer again.. er... or at least for a longer period of time. : ) However, Julie said it would be a waste of money and to just get the mini or an ibook since I wouldn't really be doing anything that utilizes the potential of a powerbook (i.e. I only use it for music, internet, mail, pictures, word processing and an occasional powerpoint presentation).

Then once I decide on which mac:

Pricegrabber.com (or other online store) or mac store?

Advantage to online store is that it's cheaper, but I can't return it like I could at a mac store and I've never shopped online before. But with the money I save, I could buy insurance, a nice case if I get a laptop and upgrade my ram.

Argh. Any suggestions?
