Excellent Tail of TULLY monster, mazon creek RARE Animal: Tullimonstrum gregarium
Locality: Mazon Creek
Location: Illinois
Age: Upper Carboniferous (Pennsylvanian)
The Tully Monster is only found at the Mazon Creek locality. It is a bit of a mystery what it is but personally I believe it to be a squid relative. It has an eye bar and an odd claw. It is restricted to the Essex Fauna of Grundy County.
If you collect mazon, you know how hard it is to get a decent tully, this is only a partial, but an excellent specimen of a tail.
I have more specimen, if you are interested, maybe even a complete tully..
I have heard that another, much rarer kind of Tully monster can be found in Kansas. I just could not help myself when I saw this. I LOVE the latin name!
