i'm so beat...long day at work. they're cutting everyone's hours now though. which is okay, because i picked up my second job as an assistant at New York, New York Hair Salon around the corner from Safeway. i start tuesday. should be interesting. i'll be going to a new Paul Mitchell school that's opening in the fall, i think. the new job will be great. it pays better than safeway; i'll be making $8-$12 per hour including tips, and it will let me determine if i really want to go to school for this. i've been re-recording some stuff with a friend, chris havelt. he and his bassist, jason are recording 'little boy blue' from my old cd with me. we re-did the vocals, and we're adding a guitar part. my friend kelly has been coming along to observe. she's a really cool gal. really beautiful and a knack for fashion. actually, the four of us want to get a small place together when we have the funds. that would be amazing. for now, i'm still paying off debt.

car insurance for this quarter, due next month: $230

last year's car insurance, owed to mom: $1100

phone bill from my apparently not-so-legit phone card: $270

money i owe my college trust fund that i borrowed to pay for ryan's car damages: $1300

so i think i'll do the math now: i've paid $96 of the phone bill, leaving me with $174. assuming i pay another $100 of it in august, that will leave me with only $74. so there's $100 i owe in august right there. plus the car insurance for the quarter, which brings me to $330. now, outside of that, i still have last year's car insurance and the money i owe to the trust fund, and both will be paid in monthly installments. right now, i average around $175 a week at Safeway. if i worked those same hours a week at the salon, i would average around $233. so if i work half the hours at Safeway and half the hours at the salon, i'll average about $204 a week, minimum. you following me still? good.

alright. soooo, that's about $816 a month. so let's say that i want to pay off the trust fund and the car insurance in one year. that will be $108 and $92 respectively. that's $200 a month. tack on the $330 for the phone bill and the car insurance for the quarter and we're at $530 due in the month of august. now we also have to consider that i use $30 a week for gas, bare minimum. so that adds another $120 per month...damn...so that's $320 owed a month; $850 for august...that could be a problem....okay; so maybe i'll start the $320 monthly payments in september. yeah...that makes a lot more sense. okay, so that's $80 a week. that's really not that bad, out of the average $233 i'll make a week. it will leave me with $153 to save and to buy food at work with. at the most, i spend about $4 a day at work on food. i work 5 days a week. that's $20. so now i'm left with $133 a week. i can put $100 in the bank for savings each week then, and have $33 to spend on what i need....but that can't be right, can it? it seems too good to work out....let's review our numbers.

BILLS:

august:
monthly/weekly: $530/$132.50

set monthly:
trust fund: 1300
last year's insurance: $1100
insurance due in august: $230
phone bill: $270

monthly/weekly insurance: $108/$27
monthly/weekly trust fund: $92/$23
monthly/weekly gas: $120/$30
monthly/weekly total: $320/$80

food at work monthly/weekly: $80/$20

savings monthly/weekly: $100/$25

leftover money: $33

now let's see how well i can stick to my budget.
