"I don't know any Sanskrit," she whispers into the curve of Cho's knee.

"Oh, there," Cho groans.

... Wow. Very lovely, evocative piece. I've never been very 'into' Padma; she never really aroused my interest as a canon character. But you've done a quite lovely job of opening up and filling out her personality, and drawing me in in the process.

I'd never been much into Padma before writing this either, but somehow over the course of the fic I fell in love. :) Thanks for reviewing!

if it's not too impertinent to ask, what's your racial heritage? this piece speaks to me so sensitively subtly of diaspora experience:
Cho's mouth tightens for just a moment--just, then she smiles back. [...] In that instant between the question and the reply, Padma loses her heart

and such charming details here, like the doomed house of cards, and the elements of chinese culture... did you already know about ci and chinese architecture? or was that the product of research?

that connection that padma finds in cho is beautiful in its sophistication, and heartbreaking in cho's blindness to it. forgive my gushing, but this is just so intelligently insightful.

I am actually a quite white American; my family's been in the country for several generations. I tried my best to capture the experience of being a minority; I am so thrilled that it seems to have worked. :))) Thank you!

And yes, I researched China (and India, for that matter) over the course of writing this.
