Dear Yuletide author,
Hello! Thank you for writing me a present for one of my favorite fannish events of the year. We share at least one tiny fandom, and that is AWESOME! I hope this letter makes you super jazzed to write about said tiny fandom! (If not, optional details are optional.) I'm
littledust on AO3 and
littledust on Tumblr. Most of my online activity these days is on my locked Twitter, unfortunately!
fahye has an excellent sense of what I like and dislike if you're concerned.
General likes: Banter (witty or otherwise), happy endings, bittersweet endings, character vignettes, domesticity (especially cooking/baking), daring capers, literary references (if appropriate), families (found and biological), friendship, and seemingly unrequited love becoming requited at last. Obviously, all of these do not have to be in one fic! I'm a warm, fuzzy person, but I don't object to dark and twisty if it fits the canon. If I've requested a canon, chances are that I like the tone of the source material! Gen, slash, femslash, het, and OT3+ fic of any rating welcome.
General dislikes: Graphic depictions of violence, especially child harm. (I'm including rape in my definition of "violence.") That's the big one, but I'm also not fond of A/B/O, infidelity, teacher/student, or character bashing. I love kidfic, but I work with kids, so I'd prefer you write kidfic only if you can make the kids sound like their age.
Note: Some of my fandom notes are longer than others. That doesn't mean I prefer one canon over the other! I tend to spill the most virtual ink over the canon(s) freshest in my memory, but I spent a long time choosing the canons I wanted most for this Yuletide. Don't fret, author. ♥
Pitch (TV 2016)
Ginny Baker
Optional Details: As of writing this, there are two episodes of Pitch out and I just love Ginny SO MUCH. My heart aches for her as she negotiates the minefield of being The Only Woman: the pressure she feels, the compromises she makes, the armor she wears. I love her grit (she knows she has to work twice as hard as anyone else on the team). I love her sarcasm (she knows how to be "one of the guys" while fending off dumb questions about hooking up with teammates). I love her unguarded warmth with family and friends (her brother! Evelyn! Blip!). I love the baseball player we get to see when Ginny can get out of her head and just enjoy the game (TEAMFEELS). Basically, ♥GINNY♥!
A note if you're dying to write Pitch shipfic: I would happily read Ginny/Evelyn/Blip, Ginny/Evelyn, or Ginny/Blip if all three are on board and no one is cheating on anyone. Even if canon heads in that direction, I feel like Ginny has more than enough on her shoulders!
Well, if you couldn't tell from the optional details, I love Ginny THE MOST. She's my only requested character because I can't get enough of her face. I like plenty of the other characters in the tag set (Amelia, Blip, Evelyn, Oscar, Mike) and would be happy to read about Ginny interacting with any of them, as long as she's front and center. I don't think I've ever requested a currently airing show in its first season, so if you start an amazing fic in October that gets jossed in December, that's fine! Just mark it "AU as of episode [whatever]."
A couple of prompt scenarios, if that's your thing:
- Ginny interacting with her girl fans over the course of a long and glorious career. Show me how she goes from terrified of screwing up (and therefore letting them down) to mentoring other female players in major league baseball.
- Ginny attempts to have a "normal" day, and various hilarious and/or bittersweet shenanigans ensue
- Five pitches Ginny masters!
- IT'S 2316 AND GINNY'S DAD MADE HER AN ACTUAL BASEBALL CYBORG. BECAUSE BASEBALL IS THE SPORT OF THE FUTURE, OBVIOUSLY. Also because Ginny sobbing about malfunctioning broke my heart.

A Ladies' Guide to Collecting Mermaid Love Songs - Aimee Picchi
Any character
Optional Details: Mermaids are my favorite mythological creature, so I gobbled up this delightful little short story. I'd enjoy just about anything that expands on canon: backstory for Miss Holst and/or Miss Mori, backstory for mermaid song collection in general, Miss Holst/Miss Mori fix-it fic, another article written by Miss Holst... really, this story was such a delightful glimpse into another world and I'd love to read more!
Author, if we matched on this fandom, I give you permission to quote "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" as much as your literary heart desires. This short story packs so much science and longing into so few words! Miss Holst is a scientist first and a person second, which is a fascinating conflict, especially considering the steampunk-y Victorian setting. Is Miss Mori even interested in the study of mermaid song, or is she doing this purely to be with Miss Holst? Just what do the mermaids think of all these ladies in boats, anyway?
Prompt scenarios:
- How did Miss Holst and Miss Mori meet? At finishing school? At the market? Across a crowded ballroom, when Miss Holst no doubt started pontificating about SCIENCE?
- Miss Holst's voyages around the globe, and the various types of mermaids and mermaid songs she discovers!
- The mermaids teach Miss Mori how to be a proper mermaid.
- Miss Mori and Miss Holst live happily and scientifically ever after, somehow! (Maybe Miss Mori uncovers the secret of changing back and forth between shapes?)
Where to Find: You can read the entire short story
right here! Bridgerton Series - Julia Quinn
Penelope Featherington, Colin Bridgerton, Eloise Bridgerton
Optional Details: Like many, I'm thoroughly charmed by the Bridgertons series. The Lady Whistledown excerpts were some of my favorite parts in the first half of the series, so naturally Penelope's story is my favorite. I'd love to read more about how Lady Whistledown came to be! I'd love to read more about Penelope and Colin, whether it's as children or during the series or set at a point in the future. I also very much enjoy Penelope and Eloise's relationship and would happily read anything about their friendship, or a Penelope/Eloise AU in which they set up house together. Finally, I love the entire Bridgerton brood, so any holiday or party story where they're all together would be wonderful.
I spent many happy hours in 2016 tearing my way through the Bridgertons series. I love how funny and warm and kind the books are. I love the sibling relationships between all the Bridgertons; whether teasing or understanding or some combination of both, all are fiercely loyal. Julia Quinn has such a knack for writing characters who genuinely care for each other, as family or as friends or as lovers. Penelope/Colin features so many things I love (writing! wittiness! pining! learning to see each other for who they ~*~truly are!~*~). I feel rather disloyal for shipping Penelope/Eloise as well, but my goodness, it's right there in the text: Eloise's bossiness and Penelope's dry wit complement each other perfectly, and they were planning on becoming old maids together. (And, as I wrote in my prompt, I do love their friendship as well.)
Prompt scenarios:
- The origin of Lady Whistledown! Penelope has quite the enterprise going by the time Romancing Mister Bridgerton begins.
- Penelope and Colin travel the globe! Loving descriptions of all the food they eat welcome.
- BRIDGERTONS CHRISTMAS. Loving descriptions of food and holiday dresses welcome. (Perhaps I shouldn't edit my letter right before dinner.)
- The rest of the Bridgertons figure out that Penelope and Eloise are in love long before they do.
Where to Find: You can buy the Bridgertons books through any major online retailer. They're likely at your local bookstore and/or library as well.
Lunar Chronicles - Marissa Meyer
Linh Cinder, Kai (Lunar Chronicles)
Optional Details: True confession: I read this author's Sailor Moon fanfiction in the 90's, and I'm thoroughly charmed that she found a way to write an original series about a long-lost moon princess. Cinder and Kai complement each other so well: both determined to do the right thing for their people, even at great personal cost. I would love to read future fic about Cinder turning the Lunar Kingdom into the Lunar Republic, or Cinder and Kai finally becoming Emperor and Empress, or a stolen moment between those two at any point in the series. I also adore them as separate characters and would welcome backstory fic, or future fic about their separate adventures.
CINDER AND KAI! I finally blew through Winter a few days before Yuletide signups. I LOVE the way the series blends sci-fi and fairytale. Cinderella's cyborg foot is so darn clever, and when Kai used it to propose, I kicked my feet in glee. Also, this is another fandom where I love a LOT of the characters (especially the girls!), so cameos from the others are more than welcome. World-building: awesome! More sci-fi'd fairytales: awesome!
Prompt scenarios:
- Cinder on the night of the Lunar Republic's first election, by herself or with the whole gang or sharing a tender moment with Kai.
- WEDDING FIC! (Cinder and Kai can be wedding guests, or bride and groom.)
- Five things Cinder fixed (and one thing she couldn't).
- Kai becomes secretly addicted to the terrimazing new drama about the princess in disguise as a mechanic and the prince in disguise as a broke student. (Cinder can't watch it because the writers know NOTHING about mechanics. Iko is also addicted, naturally.)
Where to Find: You can buy the Lunar Chronicles through any major online retailer. They're likely at your local bookstore and/or library as well.
