so beautiful and clean

FREEDOM! I have turned in a 19-page research paper and my Yuletide assignment in the past 36 hours. My brain has left the building, but I hope to have enough to complete my secret_mutant fics (yes, plural, I picked up a pinch hit). We'll also see if I can top 12,000 words written for Yuletide 2010.

D and I also went to see ACTION HOLMES! 2 last night, because D has feelings about all iterations of Sherlock. I enjoyed myself, though the fail was fail-y and I came up with a better story in my head while watching. So yes, the cast was as sparkling as always, and the ending quite amused me. I look forward to all the fabulous OT3 fics that will result, because dear God.

Best moment of unintentional hilarity: all the Frenchmen clinking wineglasses after laying down those bricks or whatever. BECAUSE WE ARE IN FRANCE, YOU SEE!

Grievances: IRENE FUCKING ADLER. NO WORDS JUST RAGE. Sim being there to be ~exotic~ window dressing. Yes, they had the decency to cut her a part of the action, but come on. It's her fucking brother. I could have done without quite so many action sequences. I liked the first ACTION HOLMES! but this one got gratuitous.

What I wanted the story to be: You know how AH!2 had the same emotional plot as AH! and it was boring? I would've loved this movie to have focused a bit more on Watson, actually. Yes, yes, Moriarty vs. Holmes has to be the crux of it all, but what if Watson has to seek out Holmes, who is in perpetual danger of Going Too Far and who might actually lose himself to hunting someone as brilliant as his arch-nemesis. Then there could be delicious angst and MORE MARY and Watson having PTSD and Watson teetering on the edge himself, because you see, he is a soldier and an adrenaline junkie and needs the chase as much as Holmes in his own way. And then everyone rides off into an OT3 sunset and Irene and Sim star in their own ACTION LADIES! movie. The end.
