Writing is super hard right now because work has been so tiring. One of the new wee ones is having a terribly difficult time being away from home, and has latched onto me as her Person. For the most part it's great. We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar at least three times a day! But LORD, providing that much emotional support dials up the exhaustion factor to eleven. Also, the poor girl had a sobbing meltdown when I took my break. Oh, preschool.
So my job has made reading
the daycare 'verse by
pocky_slash and
brilligspoons extra special! It is an X-Men AU in which Charles runs a mutant daycare and Erik helps occasionally. Normally I can't do AUs in which Erik is not a Holocaust survivor, but I just want eight million words of Charles rambling about child development and using yoga to teach self-regulation while Erik nods and smiles because he loves Charles that much. My life, everyone.
While we're on the subject of me being a dork, yesterday I was listening to my iPod as I drove back from class. Totally forgot that on one of the Dropkick Murphys live albums, a band member proposes to his longtime girlfriend. Downtown traffic was treated to the sight of me clutching my face in glee. This is why I am not fit for public, people: I am an embarrassment to myself and others.
