Memorial Day weekend is going well thus far. The city is gloriously hot and I have spent many an hour reading by the river. As I was walking through Harvard Square last night, I looked up at the big digital clock to check the time and the breeze picked up enough to ruffle my hair. I'll say it again: I love the possibility that comes with living here. Also getting complimented by a pedestrian for flipping off a fellow driver...
So, within the past week, I've finished The Stepsister Scheme and The Mermaid's Madness by Jim C. Hines. I've just started Red Hood's Revenge, and the fourth book is coming out in July. The basic premise of these books: Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty team up to take on threats to the kingdom. All badass ladies, all the time! Plus, Talia/Snow is amazing and I am waiting for their true love to blossom. The series is also a Yuletide fandom, which means even more fun awaits.
Now that classes are over, I've gone back to devouring books, which in turn has rekindled my desire to write one of my own. I have so many ideas kicking around, but until recently, I've had neither the mental fortitude nor the free time to put forth any real effort. Plus, ridiculously, I've worried about not having time to write fic while I'm writing a novel. As much as I want to fulfill a lifelong dream, I love fandom so damn much. Well hell, no one ever said I couldn't have my cake and eat it, too.
Also, I have seen a movie!
Oh, pirates movie, you were fun, but ultimately forgettable. It was kinda like BLAH BLAH wacky antics BLAH BLAH oh look more wacky antics BLAH BLAH thirty action scenes BLAH BLAH o hai mermaids. The missionary and the mermaid looked very pretty together. I'm pretty sure the whole movie should have been about mermaids, and that's not just my bias talking.
