Today was pretty awesome (it involved TEACHING). I will be MIA this weekend, since I took off from work for some awesome college friends shenanigans. Please don't break the Internet without me. Shiny: there is a Love Meme making the rounds! My thread is here.

Onto my latest craze! All kinds of good things are happening in Glee fandom: gleenewsletter is posting again, and the AWESOME squee_4_glee, a discussion-based community. (We all know true fannish love comes from how much verbiage it inspires.) I've also joined gleeverse, which is going to have me producing either Glee fic or graphics once a week. If you like weekly challenges, join the fun!

OH GLEE, SHOW OF MY HEART. ♥♥♥ It probably would have telegraphed the theme too much for the kids to sing "Come Together," even if it sounds amazing in my head. The club is BONDING! Cliques are breaking down! Beautiful music is happening! I am incapable of irony when it comes to this show. Rainbows and sunshine for everyone!

The club sitting around jamming out "Ride Wit' Me" was the most joyful scene in the world. THAT right there is what Glee Club is all about, Will! (Also, audio people: they sound great without all that production. Put DOWN the shiny technology and back away slowly.) THOSE KIDS MAKE MY HEART SING, NO PUN INTENDED.

Sue Sylvester makes everything better! I love how Sue, in addition to being hilarious beyond all reason, brings out the worst in Will. Seriously, he needs several smacks upside the head. I'm willing to roll with it, though, because the writers GET how much of a jerk Will is. Sue puts the spotlight on Will's favoritism! She couldn't destroy Glee Club if its faculty advisor wasn't a self-centered jackass!

Let me pause for a moment to worship Jane Lynch. Not only is she one of the funniest people EVER, but she sold the hell out of Sue's moment of humanity. Now, I'm sure she still has evil to perpetrate, but Sue seemed almost like a real person there. A real crazy person. Oh, how I love her.

AAAAAAAA QUINN AND RACHEL. Love the character development we got for them both, especially Quinn. I teared up during "Keep Holding On." I refuse to be ashamed! It's the entire club unifying for one of their own in her TIME OF NEED! It's Finn and Rachel loving HER more than their own interests! I LOVE that Finn and Rachel both care about Quinn; she's not a one-dimensional obstacle in the way of their true love. Finn/Rachel/Quinn OT3!

Speaking of one-dimensional obstacles in the way of true love, Terri! Still love her insanity, even if she needs to tell Will about the fake baby already. I missed Emma, but I'm glad we got no Will/Emma this week. I'm sorry, but after his behavior this week, I am 100% positive that she deserves SO much better. :/

As much as I LOVED the kids getting the spotlight, I did notice the irony of Sue criticizing Will for excluding minorities... and then Rachel and Finn singing the last number. I get how it fits into the narrative, but oh show. I cannot wait until the baby storylines are a thing of the past.

On the music:

"Hate On Me" wins FOREVER. Is there a solo Mercedes can't nail? DON'T BE RIDICULOUS. "No Air" was a blah song to begin with, and incredibly overproduced. Yes, I know that's the way the song was in original form, but part of the fun of a cappella is hearing popular music in a different way. "You Keep Me Hangin' On" is pretty, but either Dianna Agron's voice is not that strong or the arrangers aren't doing her any favors. "Keep Holding On" is also not a great song, but I will love Glee's version of it forever because OMG TEAM UNITY!

...My thoughts are deep like the ocean.
