Some time last night/this morning, my car got broken
into. Strictly vandalism, they threw rocks through the front two windows. Both rocks are still in the car. They didn't take anything--there really wasn't anything to take, unless they want my tape deck.
I can say this perfectly hypothetically since it didn't happen (cuz Lord knows I can't live without my music) but I almost wish they would have taken my tape deck. Shit, economic times are hard, so at least that would have had a reason. If the 73 cents you'd get from hawking my tape deck would have helped out, then so be it. Not that I'm justifying theft, or even that I like it. To the contrary, I hate it, but I hate senseless violence/vandalism worse.
So who knows why? Maybe something about my car set them off. Maybe they're a Cowboys fan.
At any rate, now I'm working from home (read: monitoring my e-mail and phone and being reachable, but I'm not getting much of either and beyond that there's not much I can do from here) and waiting for the cops to show up. They send out the mobile response unit or something, and they're supposed to be giving me a call, or so the dispatcher told me on the phone 2 1/2 hours go. I can understand that it's not an "emergency" situation in that at this point it's over and there's no current risk to life, limb or property, but damn y'all! Plus, there's rain in the forecast and in case you haven't been keeping score at home, my front two windows are wide-the-fuck open.
Anyway, some bullshit I didn't need and about $300 I don't need to be spending. All that said, however, I like to keep it positive. And my friend Norm had a facebook status that was quite timely: “Do not blame God for having created the tiger, but thank him for not having given it wings” -- Native American Proverb
Not only is it fitting, but c'mon. You laughed. A tiger with wings? That's funny shit.
