It's the meme-of-the-hour floating around on Facebook. And since I spent time doing it, I figure I'll get it some burn over here as well.
Rules:
Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you (or I think you'll come up with really entertaining things).
Note: I don't expect everyone to do this, or even any one. I was just bored and trying to pass the time tonight.
(To do this, go to “notes” under tabs on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your 25 random things, tag 25 people, then click publish.)
1. I personally believe that shredded lettuce is the devil and I despise it on sandwiches and nearly everything else. I don't have this problem with regular lettuce, which I enjoy, but shredded lettuce is icky. Having it on tacos is the one exception to the rule.
2. I have a pretty strong understanding of the use of words and grammar and what-not, being the son of a copy editor. That said, sometimes I use them incorrectly just because I don't feel like being shackled by the rules.
3. With the above in mind, despite being a native Northerner, I truly believe that "y'all" is the most utilitarian word of its kind. "You" leaves confusion as to singular or plural, "you guys" often forces one to interpret "guys" as a gender-neutral term which can be difficult for some, and "youse guys" not only has the same problems as you guys, but in my opinion sounds more uneducated than y'all does.
4. I've lived in what I consider to be the 4 geographic regions located on the east coast of the United States: the northeast, the mid-Atlantic, the south, and Florida.
5. I follow my high school marching band with similar fervor to that with which I follow my favorite sports teams. They were a major factor in my decision to attend this past inauguration, perhaps as much or moreso than President Obama or Vice President Biden.
6. I collect shot glasses, and have one from pretty much every place that I've visited in my adult life. While I don't claim to collect pint glasses, I do have quite a few, mostly of beers I enjoy.
7. I'm mildly addicted to the game Animal Crossing: City Folk for Wii. It was a Christmas gift for Megan but I've been playing it quite a bit as well.
8. I was at one point in my life a pretty avid dancer. I had gotten pretty accomplished at tap and was asked to fill in last minute for Prince Charming in a ballet recital when the original took ill. I minored in dance in middle school at Cab Calloway School of the Arts.
9. I have a bit of a phobia about telephones. I believe this stems from my days as a telemarketer one summer back in high school.
10. Having grown up in Wilmington, I'm a fan of Philly area sports. My one exception is that my baseball team is the Boston Red Sox, which is probably because when I was young and began caring about baseball, I had lived in Boston longer than I had lived anywhere else.
11. I look a little sideways at folks who became Sox fans post-2004. (Sorry Lauren.)
12. I've kept some sort of blog for over 7 years. I've had a Livejournal since 2001 and I started a sports blog and a marching blog on two separate sites before merging them into my current 80minutesofregulation.blogspot.com (shameless plug!) Also: I hate the word "blog".
13. I put on something FIERCE for the First State. If you don't know I'm from Delaware, it's probably because we've never met. Ditto my alma maters.
14. Despite how much I love music, I'm more often than not listening to podcasts in my car lately.
15. I'm allergic to both cats and dogs. This proves annoying since it seems everyone's got them.
16. I could probably eat seafood everyday.
17. I'm a big fan of drum corps, and attended the DCI World Championships this past year. This is despite having been "raised" traditional style.
18. I pack my lunch to work every day except Friday. That's the day I treat myself. I started this with my coworker M.L. in my first year as a professional and it's been going ever since.
19. If I were to suddenly come in to a lot of money, I'd probably do "nothing", a la Peter from Office Space. At least for a little while--I'd eventually get bored.
20. I used to edit Wikipedia fairly regularly. I've got nearly 1,000 edits to my name, my own userpage, and even created a WikiProject.
21. Yup, I'm a nerd. Once upon a time, I didn't embrace this as readily as I do now.
22. I went all the way through the Cub Scouts, but only lasted a year or so in Boy Scouts before losing interest.
23. I tend to be a stickler for US flag code, and get annoyed at those who think they are honoring our country by flying the flag incorrectly, in the rain, or in the dark.
24. Despite not being a big fan of the sport [sic], I do someday want to attend a NASCAR race.
25. I'm done with this damn thing (does that count?)
