1. acting It's been a while, but I was a drama kid all throughout high school, averaging at least 2 plays and/or musicals a year from 6th grade up through graduating high school. Admittedly, it's been a bit, but I wouldn't mind taking to the stage again.
2. Carolina Crown Carolina Crown is a drum corps based in Fort Mill, SC (Charlotte metro area). I've taken quite a liking to drum corps over the past few years (despite my strong bias for traditional style marching) and Carolina Crown has become one of my favorite corps. I remember first having fallen for them at a show in Orlando in the summer of 2005. I honestly can't remember if I like them because they were from the Carolinas (at that time I knew I was NC bound, and as you know I'm a shameless homer) and they happened to be good, or if I liked them because they were good and they happened to be from the Carolinas. But regardless, they are currently a VERY close second for my favorite corps, behind Santa Clara Vanguard.
3. DDDB The Down and Dirty Dawg Band, the official pep band of UMBC, the best damn pep band in the America East conference, and one of my primary involvements throughout my undergraduate career. I played drums for 4 years and was a student director for a good deal of the time. Speaking of the DDDB, I just got my alumni giving on and donated a custom bass drum head to my former organization. It looks like this:
4/7. down bottom/up top Colloquialisms for the south/the north, respectively. I've taken ownership that as a mid-Atlanticker who was down in the Northeast and currently lives in the South (after a stint in Florida, a region onto itself) I am both a northerner and a southerner, though certainly neither more than I am a mid-Atlanticker.
5. mtv2 The Deuce of the MTV family of networks. I've got both mtv and mtv2 on my interests, but I like mtv2 better because sometimes they actually *gasp* play music! I also like sme of their programming, like Sucka Free Sundays and My Block.
6. the 5th quarter this is a term used in the HBCU and other band communities for the post-game show and/or competition at a football game (football has 4 quarters; hence the 5th quarter). As I'm a band dork, this is an interest of mine. The 5th Quarter is also a website and forum for HBCU marching bands.

Now then, what's new with me? I'm at the beginning currently of a 5-day weekend, which is good because I'm burned the fuck OUT. Rewind a few weeks: It was FallFest, or homecoming, here at UNCG. it's a huge week of programming which means a whole lotta work for me. Everything went stellar, but it definitely took alot out of me. FallFest ended on September 29th, but I'm still not quite at 100% after the nearly 2 week buffer, so I'm taking off tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday. Monday and Tuesday are Fall Break here, and as such, tomorrow will likely be a ghost town as folks are departing. So it's a good time for me to take some time. On Monday and Tuesday (since Megan, as a student, has off too) we are headed out west to Asheville and Grandfather Mountain in WNC for some sightseeing and camping. But tomorrow, and likely the weekend, i'm gonna make like Dre and Snoop and just chill... till the next episode.
