Dave, I don't know if you still kick around here, but if you do, you'll get a kick out of this.
This week's Music for a Sunday Evening in the Park featured two things: Tubas in the Summer (think Tuba Christmas in July, if you will) and the Greensboro Concert Band. I came in on the last coupla pieces of the tubas (one of which was Baby Elephant Walk) and then stuck around for the concert band. Their finale was Stars and Stripes Forever--with the piccolo solo being played on a tuba. Wicked cool. The concert also featured the most prolific euphonium player i've ever heard.
In completely unrelated news, who knew Bruce Willis is a mid-Atlantic kid? Yup, reppin that 609, Salem County, right on the other side of the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The things you learn form the Daily Show.
