So I did my taxes this weekend (no, for real! Yes, I know it's not 4/15 yet!), and essentially broke even. I owed the Feds $29, but I got $36 from the state of NC. Add that to the $9.95 I paid to do them on the site I used (despite there ALLEGEDLY being a way to file for free if you were 25 or under and made less than 52K, but this was nowhere to be found, unless I somehow had to up-up-down-down-left-right-left-right-B-A-select-start that bitch) and I'm actually out 3 bucks, but I suppose I can afford that.
This weekend I saw two movies that were utterly awesome and completely different. One was 300, which was a total display of absolute unbridled bad-assness. The other was Akeelah and the Bee, which has become one of my new favorite films. It's the stereotypical heartwarming story, sure, but it's so much more and it's just great.
In other recent news, Megan and I went hiking about 7 miles round trip on a nearby trail this past weekend. It was good times, except in the last mile or two when I was totally over it. But we hiked out to the marina on Lake Brandt, had lunch there, and came back.
And my basketball pools? Well, my smarter one's still alive, and will thrive with a Georgetown over Florida win in the NC game. My riskier one is DOA. And the women's pool totally through me for loops, but I wasn't playing against anyone in that one anyway.
And if I haven't already mentioned, we've solidified our Spring Fling concert. It's gonna be 112!! ::diddy-bops to "Only You"::
