Sports Talk and Thanksgiving Travel-Friday II (electric boogaloo)

Dec 19, 2006 19:38

More sports talk... AI's headed to Denver?! Daamn... that's still my dude though!

Oh, and football comes back tonight with the San Diego County Federal Credit Union Damn My Name Is Long And The Company By Which I'm Sponsored Has No National Appeal Poinsettia Bowl.

And in unrelated news, our hot water heater burst or some shit so there was leaking on the carpet in two of our rooms and right now we've got no water while it's being repaired. And there are drying fans underneath the carpet, making it kinda like a hovercraft.

Now then. after the parade it was back to the crib... I intended to get in touch with Dion but unfortunately there was no such luck while I was in town... fair enough, I was in town for less than 24 hours, it was Black Friday, and he works in retail.

One of the joys of being home for the holidays is the gumbo. My grandmom on my dad's side grew up in N'awlins, so gumbo's a part of our holiday celebration. And as always, it was goo-ood!

Just some chillin' for a bit and watching part of the Horns-Aggies game before heading up to Philly to take James back to his apartment and get a look at his digs... DAMN that's a nice complex! He's got a concierge and gourmet restaurant and shit... definitely not your everyday residence hall.

We got back to town and got ready to head back southwest for the ResLife reunion at City Cafe in Baltimore. And it was great! I got to see some folks I hadn't seen in a long-ass time, including John, James, Michael, Lindsay, Lauren, Katie, Erin (ok, I see her all the damn time...) good times and good food with good people... Damn I need to see all y'all more often! A couple more years ,I should be back up in the mid-Atlantic, never you worry...

From there it was heading further west to Morgantown, West Fucking Virginia for the USF/WVU game. For one, I had no clue MD was as long as it was. I knew west of fredneck is Hagerstown, and west of that is Cumberland, and Frostburg, etc. I just had no clue how much room there was through the rest of those.

I-68 calls itself the "National Freeway". My ass! I-68 begins at I-70 around Hancock, MD and ends at Morgantown, WV at I-79. We drove the entire length of that bad boy TWICE. 2 states. 120ish miles. Like I said, National Freeway my ass.

Wasn't a bad drive though. We were paralleling "Scenic" US 40 for a while... I didn't know "Scenic" was a designation, but, you know, whatever. Settled down for he evening in Fairmont, WV.

And now, I'll hit y'all with the beginning of Saturday, as I already wrote up the game experience for ncaafootball.

philly, friends, baltimore, thanksgiving, travel
