Fuck the radio

Radio here in Greensboro sucks. I say that because right now, the two poppiest stations have no competition. our main pop/rock/top 40 station, WKZL, is pretty much the only one of its kind. Ditto for our hip hop/R&B station, which used to have competition until it made an HFS switch and became latin on us. I mean, I guess it's comparable to radio in Wilmington, but the difference is that I can easily get stations from Philly and B-more from the Dub City. In GSO, it's their way or the highway.

I don't know who's watching ANTM, but I feel like you can see the gerbil that's running on the wheel to power Gina's brain.

re: my question in the last post, I think that the American Confederacy was/is a terrorist organization. While I think they eventually evolved into a wartime enemy, the initial secession and attack on Fort Sumter was an act of terror. Erin, I definitely feel you on the treasonist angle as well though, and it continues to boggle my mind how the same people who think they are all patriotic and love America also rep hard for a "nation" that seceeded from, attacked, and went to war with the entity they claim to love. Just my two cents.

Over the next month, Megan and I are going to a few hometown sporting events to root for our hometown team. Next Monday, we're going to Raleigh to a Hurricanes game against Megan's Capitals, and on the 19th we're going to a Bobcats game to see them play my Sixers.

Speaking of sports, I haven't yet talked about the Greensboro Revolution. I went to the first game of the Revolution, our indoor football team, this past weekend. I will say, I'm hooked. It was a good time, quality football, and definitely my fix for the summertime and my hometown team. Plus you get to go down on the field and meet the players and such afterwards. It's definitely fan friendly and I wish they gave it more attention and I hope it stays well attended (the first game was, but it was also novel at that point) and sticks around. In other news, being on the field again, I realized my 8-to-5 is a little rusty and 5 yards seems shorter than I recall. then again, I haven't marched a real 8-to-5 in about 7 years. And from the event planner side of things, I think there could be more to the gameday experience. And of course, add that to good ol' normal me, and you're well aware that they need a marching band.

non sequitor: I wish I could breakdance.

radio, history, antm, sports
