Think Pink for the Cure...but not with Planned Parenthood Democratic Heathens
So Komen (the corporate machine behind the pink ribbons and "for the cure" campaigns for breast cancer) has decided it will no longer donate to Planned Parenthood because of a Congressional investigation started by a FLA politician into the use of funds by PP. This decision came about because of a new policy they put into place about donating to institutions under federal investigation, and right after Komen unveiled a new partnership that strengthens its ties to the George W. Bush Institute.
These are the facts.
My opinion after reading into this a bit more? Komen has caved to the right wing, anti-abortionists, and should not receive a single cent from anyone, especially a woman, ever again. I have read that they have aggressively sued anyone using the color or word "pink" in association with anything to do with breast cancer awareness/fundraising. I have heard that they have aggressively sued anyone using the term "for the cure" or "for A cure" in association with breast cancer awareness/fundraising. It has been said that money they have received have been used for these legal actions.
They never gave Planned Parenthood money for abortions or birth control. They supported Planned Parenthood's breast cancer/exam programs. If you read the opinion article I link above you will see some very interesting connections Komen has and is making, yet they maintain that this decision is not politically minded...during an election year.
