Two events I will drop everything for to book leave and make arrangements:

1/ Morrissey on tour.  He's rumoured to be continuing his tour this year.  Even if he plays in Australia, I would book tickets and fly there to see him perform live.  Please, oh please.

2/ Camp A Low Hum.

I appear to be living under a rock as I had never heard of this event before Easter weekend, listening to a bFM article about it as we exited Auckland.  Its a four-day festival event that works like a School camp.  Half the crowd are musicians of my favourite kind - scruffy indy kids.  They will not announce the line up until the first day of camp.  This year those who played included: Die! Die! Die!, So So Modern, The Phoenix Foundation, The Brunettes, Liam Finn and two members of Architecture in Helsinki getting back to their roots, along with a heap of others.  There are no stages and anyone can borrow amps and stage impromptu sets.  People aren't allowed to pre-make advertising for gigs and instead have to make flyers and posters in the arts and crafts tent.  The fact that there is an arts and crafts tent free for anyone to use is amazing.  As is the knucklebones tournament, the tug of war games, the fact that they screened the Star Wars Christmas Special and all sorts of other tom-foolery.  The genius lad behind the whole event wanted to create a festival that was non-commercial, didn't sell overpriced food and was BYO.  Something that people would turn up to to have a good time and go with the flow and not just because their favourite band were playing.

I am so going next year.
