Torchwood drabble: Bang Lang Syne
Title: Bang Lang Syne

Only Toshiko would use the chemistry of gunpowder to explain the appeal of fireworks to her coworkers.
"When you light the fuse, the potassium nitrate oxidizes, reacting with the sulfur and carbon, and the resulting nitrogen and carbon dioxide expand and explode the wrapper-BOOM! All that noise and light, it's like blowing away the old year to make room for the new."
But, Jack thought, it didn't take a huge explosion to change a person's world. Just a few grains of black powder, a small chunk of lead, and bang, you're the director of Torchwood.
Happy new year, Jack.
