CNBlue - Re:Blue [album]

Feb 11, 2013 09:42

I've been getting really into Korean music lately. I know there's actually some kind of feud going on online about people getting all pissed about Kpop or Kpop getting so big in the Japanese music industry... *shrugs* It's catchy and fun, so I could care less. CNBlue, however, aren't really kpop, they're more funky pop-rock, and they've been pretty well accepted among fans everywhere. And why wouldn't they be?! They're freaking amazing, so I figured I would have to share their latest EP with you guys to spread the love. <3

• This album is full of gems. I hate to be cliche, but the main single for the album, "I'm Sorry," is probably my favorite. I can't help it! It's so funky. Don't you just wanna tap your foot to it and sing along and and just start dancing around like crazy?! ...No? >.> Ahem. Anyways, Yong-hwa's vocals are great. I've always loved his voice, and I think it fits perfectly with this song. Jong-hyun & Jung-shin sound wonderful, as well. All three of them sing in a way that's kind of in-your-face pissed off... it's perfect for the lyrics. ^^ The next track, "Coffee Shop," is another fun tune that I cannot stop listening to! The lyrics are about... a... um... coffee shop. And all the people that gather there. Haha. Slightly strange lyrics, but the music makes up for it immensely.

Track 3, "More Than You," is the first ballad on the album and each verse features Jong-hyun's beautiful airy vocals. Mmmm. This song is a good listen -- not one of my favorite ballads -- but it's not boring. Moving along, the EP starts picking up again on track 4. "Guy Like Me" follows the same style as "I'm Sorry" and "Coffee Shop"... it's very funky and smooth. ^^ I definitely enjoy this one, as well. My (second) favorite song on this ep, however, would definitely be "Lalala". This song has such a captivating melody. It's catchy like the others, but also very beautiful and full of emotion. The lyrics are so selfless and moving. A very admirable song. *nods*

The english version of "Where You Are" ends this great ep. Yong-hwa and Jong-hyun both have very good English, so don't be afraid. ;) This is probably the only song on the album that I don't regularly listen to, though. So far it has yet to pull me in. The melody can be a little boring... in my opinion, at least! But check it out for yourself! Re:Blue is a badass EP from a badass k(pop?) group.
