When camp ended in the middle of August, I decided to stop shaving. I didn't have to keep up appearances any longer for parents or kids, and since I have a job, I didn't have to worry about feeling like a slob for not shaving. (I do continue to shave my neck, although not as often.)
Here is a visual progression.
August 23. I've been letting my face grow for just over a week.
(I'm holding the book that I've been writing little things in almost every day since 1/1/2007. I'm also being distracted by my mom to the right.)
It doesn't really show up in ordinary shots on the webcam at this point. Here's a closer shot of all my fuzzy glory.
September 5. I wanted to catch the darker hair growing up my jawline.
Tonight. I don't have to try very hard to make my facial hair show up.
I'm one selective shave away from being Shaggy from the Scooby-Doo cartoons.
There you have it. This is a temporary thing, like my long hair was, except it requires a shorter time frame. I figure I'll get rid of the stuff between my chin and my sideburns first and go goateed for a bit, but I'm pretty sure 2009 will roll around seeing me relatively clean-shaven. Maybe, given my comment on the last picture, I'll keep it at least till the end of October.
