Taking this week as just a normal week - keeping with the schedule I've had for the previous training cycle (it works well for overall fitness) - lift, 10k Tuesday, bike, speedwork (or regular run), yoga, then run & bike on the weekends. Trying to identify what I want to do this fall. I'm pretty sure the Couch Potato (11/12) is on. Really want to do a half marathon sometime in December, but it's hard to find one close by and on a weekend I want to do. Found one in Huntersville (just north of Charlotte) on Dec. 10th that's a possibility, but I'm not sold on it yet. Also contemplating the Croft Trail Half Marathon on Nov. 6th, but I want to do a road half to try to get my 1:50 time. Still thinking.
Monday - 2 miles & lifting
Decided I missed actually lifting, so I'm doing a little less running and a little more lifting. Warmed up, did a speed mile (7:00 pace) then a short cool-down for total of 2 miles.
Lifting was back to the usual and happy to find I haven't had to reduce any weights since not really doing much work in ~3 weeks. Squats, pullups, tri pull-downs, curls, core work, shoulder press, etc. Good stuff.
Tuesday - #10kTuesday

Oh the glorious temperatures this morning! I've been excited about this since the forecast predicted low-70s temperatures for this week (highs in the mid-80s). I was able to get to work early and start running right around 7am, and it was soooooo nice. Lower humidity, cool temps. Just a teeny tiny taste of fall running! Anyway, the run itself wasn't that spectacular. Averaged right at 9:00 pace for the run (varied between 8:45-9:15 for my mile splits). Felt good, though legs were sore from lifting yesterday. Done and done! Streak: 6 weeks
Wednesday - bike
Road bike ride with Scott today. We took the Sherman College loop but added a little extra to get 15.8 miles total. Averaged 15.9mph moving speed!! Really happy about this ride especially since my legs are super sore today for some reason - maybe from lifting Monday?
Thursday - run
Got to run at lunch with Scott today - wow, 2 workouts in a row together! Craziness. We ran some loops around campus (one that I prefer to not run alone, so rarely do it) for a total of 4.2 miles at a speedy 8:27/mi average pace. That's what happens when Scott sets the speed. ;) It was warmer than I thought it would be (low 80s) but still not terrible. Felt good, but glad for the upcoming rest/yoga tomorrow.
Friday - yoga
Yogahhhhh Friday. #namaste
Saturday - bikeGot out for a solo ride on the road bike after breakfast. Headed out towards Tigerville through the cow farm (the usual) and on the way back I took the "long way" home by going north on the Swamp Rabbit trail past the TR ER and coming around on Hodgens Rd. I forgot about that last climb on that route! Bleh. It was hot and humid, but there was a nice breeze for part of the ride at least. Felt good to get some good mileage in - total of just under 30 miles and averaged 15.2mph!
Sunday - run
Took D out in the stroller on the Swamp Rabbit for a nice run on Sunday. It was already warm and humid (again) but we got in a total of 8.1 miles right at an average 9:40 pace! Pretty happy with that pace for that distance, especially with the stroller. Longest stroller run to-date!
