It was the best of days, it was the worst of days

The best involves kelsey - but I will let her tell you.

The worst involves a horribly injured kitten that I caught and transported to animal control.  She was brought with haste to a vet and subsequently euthanized.

She had a wonderful meal of a half-can of solid albacore tuna, and afterwards looked up at me from the carrier with the brightest eyes that I have seen on a kitten in a long time.

There's more I want to say, about not wanting to become the neighborhood person to call when there's an injured kitten on the street, or the ugly parts of my previous job to follow me - but suddenly this has become too painful to even think about at the moment.
