So - there's a little place about two blocks from here that I've had my keen eye on since we moved into this neighborhood. It was my fondest hope that it would not only indulge me with my favorite on-tap beverage (Guinness, a beer that doubles as a meal), but also my favorite winter-in-the-bar past-time (darts).
Monday, after supper, I finally suggested to The Angry Electron that we should take a stroll there. Since he pre-drank for the evening, he was more than happy to :-) so we made our way to the pub. Other than the absence of the dart board ("We don't want one of THOSE in here!"), the place was clean and cozy and fairly din-free, and exceeded all expectations (in price as well as the all-important munchie menue).
After two Guinness (for me), three Bass Ale (TAE), and a plate of exceptional chicken fingers, we headed out the door and down the street to our home.
As luck would have it, the next day was Trash Day, and the good people of East Providence had already put their barrels out in anticipation of the important event :-)
I spotted a familiar silhouette across the street, tucked discreetly within an orderly line of trash barrels, and rushed over to discover that it was indeed an old-fashioned sewing machine cabinet. What a find! I cried, grabbing the arm of my mate as he stumbled over to where I was. I just happened to possess an old sewing machine in need of a cabinet, and here was my need met, and free for the taking!
Luckily The Angry Electron was feeling pretty buzzed and agreeable, so we hoisted the cabinet (discovering that it still contained a sewing machine, and a fairly heavy one at that) and brought it to our front door with all the grace that two overweight middle-aged tipsy adults could muster. Other than a few joints needing to be glued tighter, it's in fairly decent shape. Hopefully my Singer will be a perfect fit. If not - we'll make it fit :-)
Let's hear a big w00t! for trash day finds :-)
