NPCing and STing

I hated full-time NPCing and won't be doing that again. I played 5 roles the entire weekend, average time out = 1 hour. So 5 hours of play over the whole weekend, 2-4 hours of helping brief NPCs. Rest of the time sitting on my bum and occasionally asking if there was something I or other NPCs could be doing. *frownyface*

Four STs, five full time NPCs, plus drop-ins and pre-arrangeds? Just not enough parts to go around. And even though I'd requested a bed so I could maintain a semi-normal sleep pattern, they didn't save me one, so I couldn't even get to sleep (on the floor of the common room) until everyone else went to bed. Apparently when I mentioned this, one of the guys took pity on me and cleared off his bed, but failed to tell me before 4am. Have I mentioned the communication issues with this bunch?

Actually STing was okay. I'd prepared written briefings for both my plots, which I think was a good idea as I know I tend to forget details when under pressure and/or sleep deprived. The people who read the briefings were impressed by them, saying they were good clear summaries of the plot and characters. I also briefed an I-know-nothing-about-Wraith player on what a drone is and how to play one. She came back with a big grin on her face, "I got forged!" so I think that went okay too.

The new Head ST was recruiting pretty hard, saying they've not run a lot of human-based whole-town-accessible history-based plots in the last few years because they don't have anyone who especially likes researching / writing / running those plots, and yet that's almost entirely what I submitted.

Overall, I'm still on the fence. There are two slots opening up on the ST team after next game, so I have a little while to think it over. But after that there probably won't be another opening for about a year.
