i'm stuffed. i helped mama maya's nephew move her new bookcases this morning and when we got back maya and her sister had cooked tons and tons of vietnamese food for us. it was delicious. i'm too full to move.
it's a relief to know that the chinese manners i so painfully had drilled into me work just fine in other asian cultures. (so far). i've missed how easy it is to charm the old ladies just by being a chubby little white boy who smiles a lot and obediently eats everything within arms reach.
