Two minutes is dating. Just sayin... :)

I couldn't help but think of that Dave Barry classic.. "The Difference Between Men and Women"..You know, she's thinking: "wow, we've been dating 6 months now".. and he's thinking "wow, time for an oil change already?"

Ha ha ha, I was five seconds from seeing what you were doing for lunch today!

Maybe you should go on some more dates with her to see if you feel more at home with the label of dating. But yeah, if you haven't been held in a while, hugs like that are pure gold.

Born and raised in Shanghai, moved to the US about 7 years ago.

Initially I thought of the possibility of cultural differences, but I don't think that's the case here; it felt like she was surrendering.

It's not a cultural thing. You're right about personal space, but male-female hugging of people other than lovers or relatives is actually less common in China than it is in the US.

Hugging is good. Dating is good. Platonic friendship is good. You can't lose any way.

If only it was as simple as that. For example, if one person has feelings the other doesn't reciprocate, both lose.

'Lose' is a strong term. Unrequited love is a painful thing, but it's better than not loving at all. Or so I like to believe.
