movie theaters and the rain

So I havent had time to post yet, but I have an interesting story of sorts. Monday night is like, discount night at the Angelika Theater, right? So Denise messages me and asks if I want to go with the girls to see Memoirs of a Geisha. Which I would, because its on my list of movies that i want to see, and the list is way too long. So, I figure, I'll drive myself- save someone else the nuisance, and that way if I want to leave after (lots of homework and they were planning on going for coffee) its all good. I get the directions to the Angelika. REALLY not complicated. San Jacinto to Walkter to Bagby to Texas St.
So, its raining and dark out, and I miss Bagby. This wouldnt be so much of a problem if walker wasnt one way, and I wasnt directionally challenged. So it takes me like, 5-10 minutes to find my way back to bagby. This section of Houston is not in a grid. its not like I can just take two rights or something... I almost ended up on a HIGHWAY. That would have been scary. Anyway, I get back, a feat of which I am quite proud, and I find the Angelika theater. Where to park? I have no clue. The car in front of me took the last freakin car space. SO Im looking for the parking area that Denise mentioned. I see a parking garage down a bit. First I try to go in there to discover I totally went in the exit... very poorly labelled. Again, dark and raining. so I back out of that and theres a guy standing there looking official wearing a parka/uniform. So I ask where the Angelika parking is. He says its over there, and points at something, and just says, go around the block, its underneath the theater.
I do this. 8 times. Seriously. I conclude that if there is a parking garage underneath the theater it is either invisible to the naked eye or I am simply retarded. I really have no preference as to which is correct. 8 times. Around the theater, hopeless. So finally, I discover theres this little driveway leading straight up to the Angelika. I take it. A dude in a red parka comes up to me... apparently this is valet parking. So I explain that Im so frustrated, and 10 minutes late for my movie, that I don't care that the parking garage is right around the corner (apparently the garage I first attempted to enter was the right one and whoever was giving me directions was retarded), and that i just want to get out of my car. I ended up paying 10 dollars to park my 1998 Toyota Corola right outside the theater next to some BMWs and Mercedes. The movie was good tho. And I didnt get wet leaving or getting to my car... thank God for small favors.
