well, Im in Charlotte, NC. The trip wasnt nearly as bad as I expected, I slept for half and read for the other. Turns out if I lie down in the seat I dont get carsick--- if I sit up Im completely carsick, baffling I know. The dog did not expect me to scratch her butt the whole trip, but despite the fact that my parents love her more, therefore giving her more space- they cleared out the middle seat, put her big dog bed down, on top of another cushion no less- susie felt the need to sleep on the one seat that I was given, and since i got car sick sitting up, I had to lay with my legs over her or up on the side of the seat where they fell asleep. They really do love her more.. my mom makes this amazing Italian wedding soup-- I thought she made it for me when I come home because its my favorite, and then i realize that the dog is out of her favorite food- meatballs made out of the leftovers that make the broth in Italian wedding soup. Makes you wonder..
Then again, as my mom always says, Im not the one who runs to greet her at the door when she comes home.
We stopped off today to see a man who is apparently my... cousin (atleast once removed, hes older than my parents, I think he's my dad's cousin) Henry. Henry apparently lives in a cabin in hickville that up to last year did not have indoor plumbing. This is especially amusing considering henry grew up in Queens, NY... a bit different than backwoods virginia. Anyway, all he talked about was random partying, folk dancing, and white russians, combined with the pain in his knee... interesting combination.
Charlotte is warm, for this time of year (compared to Gloversville at least). 50s and 60s Id say... its hard to judge when you've been in Gville's cold, everything seems warm. We went out to a very yummy dinner though. Apparently all the movie theaters in Charlotte close for Christmas. Silly baptists, don't they know that Christmas is great business time for movies? So instead we went back to Emily's house (she shares a house with 3 other girls, who are all at their respective other homes for the weekend, leaving room for my parents and I to visit) and watched Vanity Fair with Reese Witherspoon. We watched it, were slightly entertained, but it was one of those movies that you watch, but are never quite sure what they are about. The entire film I was waiting for the big event--- the one that you sit there waiting with baited breathe to get resolved, even if such a resolution is predictable, but it never came. Very odd movie.
All right, Im going to go watch random television till I get tired- one of the things I am most skilled at.
