For all you people out there lucky enough not to be studying the joys of specialist maths, be thankful you dont do it....
I have just spend half of this term studying complex numbers. These numbers are imaginary. They DO NOT EXIST. Yet, we spend half a term studying and investigating these numbers that ARE NOT REAL.
Who really gives a damn bout Imaginary numbers? They are not there, they do not exist so WHY DO WE STUDY THEM??? And for half a friggin term!!!
I can tell it'll be of use to me in the future. When I'm a doctor and performing brain surgery on someone, I'll be sure to remember that the imaginary part of z is the sine of theta.. I'll really need to use it everyday life...
*Rachel walks into a grocery store and gets an apple*
Cashier (hopefully some hot guy): "that's 53cents please"
Rachel: In cartesian or polar form?
Cashier: Any, as long as the modulus of cis phi satisfies DeMoivre's thereom.
Rachel: But wait, that number is purely Imaginary. So hence, I owe you nothing. QED end of proof..
I rest my case. There is no point in studying numbers that dont exist.
Its common sense really..
