I always thought you were super cool. I was just a little loser girl and I wished I could be cool like you. You knew who you were, and that's more than I can say about myself, even now.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I heard a lot of "no" and "maybe next year" growing up so now that I worked hard and got a good job I spoil myself and I really don't appreciate people who try to make me feel guily about having money. Especially the holier-than-thou wanks who are all "well if I was paid what I deserve..." Or "your industry is so over-hyped" or my favorite, when I get crap for being part of the military-industrial complex.

Assholes.

Thing is, it's not that the person giving me crap for having money. It's that, in many conversations the value of things I end up buying, or coveting, or whatever, seems to come up. Thing is, I'm not doing it to brag about how expensive my things are. It just comes up, I guess. Maybe I shouldn't say, "oh, y'know I could've bought this $1800 lens for $1500, but instead I opted for the step down for only $350" - speaking specifically of the EF 85mm L f1.2 lens -- I got the 85mm 1.8 instead.
