Even since Sophie, Gaheris has been doing better by enormous lengths. Having a surrogate daughter is stabling him in the same way it stabled him to have his own child when he was in exile; he's not well, he'll never really be well, but he's happier within himself, less lonely and twitchy. He goes out of Morvydd's room more often. He goes on errands or he makes up errands for himself, but he leaves the safety of her room without needing anywhere near as much encouragement as he used to.
